Laura Kalbag is a British designer living in Ireland who has worked in tech for more than 15 years as a designer-developer specialising in the web. Through her technical writing and speaking, she has presented at over 150 events and organizations worldwide.

She is a co-founder of Small Technology Foundation, a tiny not-for-profit organization that advocates for and builds small technology for social justice in the digital age. She also works with Penpot, an open source design platform, on educational materials for designers and developers.

Seeing how tech has become vital infrastructure for so much of the world’s day-to-day lives has led her to her core principles of inclusion, affordability, and preventing harm. These principles guide her focus on open source, privacy, and accessibility in all things.
